- Therefore you shall keep his statutes and his commandments, which I command you today, that it may go well with you and with your children after you, and that you may prolong your days in the land that the Lord your God is giving you for all time.
- Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.
- And if you faithfully obey the voice of the Lord your God, being careful to do all his commandments that I command you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.
- The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.
What can man do to me? - Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
- In God, whose word I praise,
in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.
What can flesh do to me? - The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
- And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, saying,
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!” - For thus says the One who is high and lifted up,
who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy:
“I dwell in the high and holy place,
and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit,
to revive the spirit of the lowly,
and to revive the heart of the contrite.” - I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need.
- Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.
- And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”
- Bless the Lord, O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name! - Even before a word is on my tongue,
behold, O Lord, you know it altogether. - And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.
- Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.
- I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

for to you I lift up my soul. - For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence,
for my hope is from him. - For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other's faith, both yours and mine.
- I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
- Give justice to the weak and the fatherless;
maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.
