I am the alpha and omega (2/4)

  • For I, the Lord, am your God
and I grasp your right hand.
It is I who say to you,
Do not fear; I will help you.
  • I, I alone, am the one who comforts you.
Why then do you fear mortal men who must die,
human beings who must perish like grass?
  • And a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
  • Who has performed these deeds and accomplished this?
Who has summoned the nations from the beginning?
I, the Lord, am the first,
and I will be there with the last.
  • The one who gives this testimony says, “Yes, I am coming soon.”
    Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
  • For this reason, I rejoice when I endure weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and distress for the sake of Christ. For it is when I am weak that I am strong.
  • I am coming soon. Hold fast to what you already have so that no one may rob you of your crown.
  • Behold, I am coming soon, and I will bring with me my reward to repay everyone as his deeds deserve.
  • “But you,” he said to them, “who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
  • I came from the Father
and have come into the world.
Now I am leaving the world
    and returning to the Father.
  • Do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and give you help,
I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.
  • I do not say this because I have been in need, for I have learned to be content with whatever I have.
  • Return, rebel Israel, says the Lord.
I will not look upon you in anger.
    For I am merciful, says the Lord;
my wrath will not continue forever.
  • For I am not ashamed of the gospel, since it is the power of God that offers salvation to everyone who has faith—to Jews first, and then to Gentiles as well.
  • Father, allow those you have given me
to be with me where I am,
so that they may behold my glory,
which you have bestowed on me
    because you loved me
before the foundation of the world.
  • He who called you is holy. Therefore, be holy yourselves in all your conduct. For Scripture says, “Be holy, for I am holy.”
  • I baptize you with water for repentance, but the one who is coming after me is more powerful than I am. I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
  • I then heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me!”
  • I am confident that I will behold the goodness of the Lord
in the land of the living.
  • Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.
  • I was eager to respond
to those who did not consult me.
I was anxious to be approached
by those who did not seek me.
I said, “Here I am! Here I am!”
to a nation that did not summon me.
  • If I have the gift of prophecy
and the ability to understand all mysteries and all knowledge,
and have all the faith necessary to move mountains,
    but do not have love,
    I am nothing.
  • Amen, amen, I say to you,
the one who believes in me
will also do the works that I do,
and indeed will do even greater ones than these,
because I am going to the Father.
  • Hear my prayer, O Lord;
do not be deaf to my cry
    or ignore my weeping.
For I am a wayfarer before you,
a nomad like all my ancestors.
  • I am pulled in opposite directions. My desire is to depart and to be with Christ, for that is far better, but, it is a more urgent need for you that I remain in the body.

Jesus then said to her, “Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to my Father. But go to my brethren and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ ”
