- I lifted up my voice in prayer to him;
his praise was on my tongue. - This saying can be trusted:
If we have died with him,
we shall also live with him. - The Lord makes a man’s steps secure
when he approves of his conduct. - Paul said, “John baptized with the baptism of repentance, telling the people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, Jesus.”
- In God alone is my soul at rest;
it is from him that my salvation comes. - God is Spirit,
and those who worship him
must worship in Spirit and truth. - Through him all things came into existence,
and without him there was nothing.
That which came to be. - May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may grow rich in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
- You who abide in the shelter of the Most High,
who rest in the shadow of the Almighty,
say to the Lord, “You are my refuge and my fortress,
my God in whom I place my trust.” - It is the Lord, your God, whom you are to follow. You must fear him and observe his commandments and obey what he tells you and serve him and hold fast to him.
- If you know me,
then you will know my Father also.
From now on you do know him.
You have seen him. - Jesus answered him,
“Whoever loves me will keep my word,
and my Father will love him,
and we will come to him
and make our abode with him.” - We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners, yet we know that a man is justified not by the works of the Law but through faith in Jesus Christ. So we too came to believe in Christ Jesus so that we might be justified by faith in him and not by the works of the Law, for no one will be justified by the works of the Law.
- Behold, he is coming with the clouds;
every eye will see him,
even those who pierced him.
All the peoples of the earth will mourn him.
So shall it be. Amen. - Therefore, observe the commandments of the Lord, your God. Walk in his ways and fear him.
- But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
on those who trust in his kindness. - While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
- However, to those who did accept him
and who believed in his name
he granted the power to become children of God. - And if we know that he hears us
in regard to whatever we ask him,
we may be sure
that all we ask of him will be ours. - What is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him? - Rather, professing truth and love, we will in all things grow into him who is the head, Christ.
- And whatever you do in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
- For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall also be united with him in his resurrection. We know that our old self was crucified with him, so that our sinful body might be destroyed and we might no longer be enslaved to sin.
- Seek the Lord while he still may be found;
call to him when he is close at hand. - He did not spare his own Son but gave him up for all of us. How then can he fail also to give us everything else along with him?
