- Come now and let us discuss this,
says the Lord.
Though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be like snow.
Though they are as red as crimson,
they shall become as white as wool. - I then heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? Who will go for us?” I said, “Here I am. Send me!”
- Therefore, you will be given this sign
by the Lord himself:
The virgin will be with child,
and she will give birth to a son,
and she will name him Immanuel. - For a child has been born to us,
a son has been given to us.
Upon his shoulders dominion rests,
and this is the name he has been given:
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace. - And you will say on that day:
Give thanks to the Lord,
invoke his name;
make known his deeds among the nations;
proclaim that his name is exalted. - Sing praise to the Lord for his mighty deeds;
let this be known throughout the entire world. - O Lord, you are my God.
I will exalt you and praise your name,
for you have accomplished wonderful things,
formulated in ages past, faithful and sure. - O Lord, you grant peace to those who are steadfast
because of their trust in you. - As we proceed in the path of your judgments,
we wait for you, O Lord;
your name and your renown
are all that our heart desires. - My soul longs for you throughout the night,
and my spirit within me seeks your presence.
For when your judgments are revealed to the earth,
the inhabitants of the world learn to practice justice. - All this knowledge comes from the Lord of hosts
whose counsel is wonderful
and whose wisdom is great. - But even so the Lord is waiting to be gracious to you,
and he will rise up to grant you his compassion.
For the Lord is a God of justice;
blessed are all those who wait for him. - Until a spirit from on high
is poured out upon us,
and the wilderness becomes an orchard
and the fruitful field becomes a forest. - For the Lord is our judge,
the Lord is our lawgiver.
The Lord is our king;
he is the one who will save us. - A highway will be there
that will be called the Way of Holiness.
No one who is unclean may pass over it;
it will serve as a path for pilgrims
and no fool will be able to use it. - The grass may wither and the flower may fade,
but the word of our God will endure forever. - Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the eternal God,
the Creator of the earth’s farthest boundaries.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding cannot be scrutinized. - He gives strength to the weary
and new vigor to those who are powerless. - Those who place their hope in the Lord
will regain their strength.
They will soar as with eagles’ wings,
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not become faint. - Who has performed these deeds and accomplished this?
Who has summoned the nations from the beginning?
I, the Lord, am the first,
and I will be there with the last. - Do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and give you help,
I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. - For I, the Lord, am your God
and I grasp your right hand.
It is I who say to you,
Do not fear; I will help you. - When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
nor will the waters engulf you.
When you walk through fire,
you will not be burned;
the flames will not consume you. - Because in my eyes you are precious,
because you are honored and I love you,
I will give people in exchange for you
and nations in return for your life. - I have swept away your transgressions like a cloud
and your sins like a mist.
Return to me,
for I have redeemed you.
