- Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it. - Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
and those who love it will eat its fruits. - A fool gives full vent to his spirit,
but a wise man quietly holds it back. - The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
the righteous man runs into it and is safe. - Then the Lord God said, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.”
- Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.
- Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
- Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.
- Thus says the Lord:
“Stand by the roads, and look,
and ask for the ancient paths,
where the good way is; and walk in it,
and find rest for your souls.
But they said, ‘We will not walk in it.’” - Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.”
- If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
- For the customs of the peoples are vanity.
A tree from the forest is cut down
and worked with an axe by the hands of a craftsman.
They decorate it with silver and gold;
they fasten it with hammer and nails
so that it cannot move.
Their idols are like scarecrows in a cucumber field,
and they cannot speak;
they have to be carried,
for they cannot walk.
Do not be afraid of them,
for they cannot do evil,
neither is it in them to do good. - But when they saw him walking on the sea they thought it was a ghost, and cried out, for they all saw him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take heart; it is I. Do not be afraid.”
- And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
- This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
- Continue steadfastly in prayer, being watchful in it with thanksgiving.
- For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
- Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
- For it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me,
and every tongue shall confess to God.” - When you vow a vow to God, do not delay paying it, for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you vow.
- Jesus looked at them and said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.”
- But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.
- Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
- Know that wisdom is such to your soul;
if you find it, there will be a future,
and your hope will not be cut off. - Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
