- In much the same manner
will wisdom be sweet to your soul.
If you find it, you will have a future,
and your hope will not be cut off. - Wealth hastily acquired will dwindle away,

hallowed be your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.’ - Indeed, the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any two-edged sword, it pierces to the point where it divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and the intentions of the heart.
- There is a way that seems right to a man,
but the end of it leads to death. - For I am not ashamed of the gospel, since it is the power of God that offers salvation to everyone who has faith—to Jews first, and then to Gentiles as well.
- And now it is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. The life I live now in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself up for me.
- But without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever comes to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
- For the carved images of the nations are powerless;
they are nothing more than wood cut from a forest,
fashioned with a knife by craftsmen
and embellished with silver and gold.
Then they are fastened with hammers and nails
to prevent them from toppling.
Like scarecrows in a cucumber field
they are unable to speak,
and they must be carried from place to place
since they cannot walk.
Do not be afraid of them,
for they can do no harm,
nor do they have any power to do good. - Take no part in the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather seek to expose them.
For it is shameful even to speak of what deeds people do in secret. - I have made your name known to them,
and I will make it known,
so that the love with which you loved me
may be in them, and I in them. - A man’s attraction is his kindness;
it is far better to be poor than to be a liar. - Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth:
it is better for you that I depart.
For if I do not go away,
the Advocate will not come to you,
whereas if I go,
I will send him to you. - What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life?
- Everyone who seeks a prize submits himself to rigorous self-discipline in every respect. They do so to win a perishable crown, while we seek an imperishable one.
- I am the true vine,
and my Father is the vinegrower.
He removes every branch
that does not bear fruit,
and every branch that does
he prunes to make it bear even more. - When Jesus heard this, he said, “It is not the healthy who need a physician, but rather those who are sick.”
- For as it is written,
“Eye has not seen, ear has not heard,
nor has the human heart imagined
what God has prepared for those who love him.”
