- And the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I wish to make another creature who will be like him.”
- The name of the Lord is a tower of strength;
the upright man runs to it and finds refuge. - Then he took a cup, and after offering thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from this, all of you. For this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins.”
- How much more valuable a man is than a sheep! Therefore, it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.
- A fool gives free rein to his anger,
but a wise man bides his time and calms it. - Do not let this book of the law be absent from your mouth; meditate upon it day and night, so that you might carefully observe everything that is written in it. Then you will prosper and be successful.
- For six days work can be done, but the seventh is a Sabbath of rest, a holy assembly. You will do no work on it; it is a Sabbath of the Lord in all of your dwellings.
- The body is one, although it has many parts; and all the parts, though many, form one body. So it is with Christ.
- Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, it will be enough for us.”
- These are the words of the Lord of hosts:
Stand at the crossroads and look around;
ask for the ancient paths.
When you are shown where the good way lies,
walk along it and your souls will find rest.
However, they said, “We will not take it.” - So today acknowledge it and take it to heart that the Lord is God in the heavens above and on the earth below. There is no other.
- If someone among you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without finding fault, and it will be given to him.
- Jesus looked at them and said, “For men it is impossible, but not for God. For God all things are possible.”
- But when the disciples saw him walking on the water they thought it was a ghost and they cried out, for they all had seen him and were terrified. But immediately he spoke to them, saying, “Have courage! It is I! Do not be afraid!”
- God is not human, that he should lie,
or the son of man, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act,
does he promise and then not fulfill it? - Then it will come to pass
that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. - Rather, I discipline my body and bring it under control, for fear that after preaching to others I myself may be disqualified.
- Enter through the narrow gate, for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and those who find it are few in number.
- For it is written,
“As I live, says the Lord,
every knee shall bow before me,
and every tongue shall give praise to God.” - A thief comes only
to steal and kill and destroy.
I have come
that they may have life,
and have it in abundance. - I am confident of this: that the one who began a good work in you will bring it to completion on the day of Christ Jesus.
- Indeed, the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any two-edged sword, it pierces to the point where it divides soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and the intentions of the heart.
- In much the same manner
will wisdom be sweet to your soul.
If you find it, you will have a future,
and your hope will not be cut off. - When you make a vow to God, do not delay in fulfilling it, for God has no pleasure in fools. Fulfill the vow you have made.
- Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap. The measure that you use for others will be used to measure you.
