Jesus is come soon (2/4)

  • Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.”
  • Paul said, “John’s baptism called for repentance from sin. But John himself told the people to believe in the one who would come later, meaning Jesus.”
  • Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
  • Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. Come, see where his body was lying.”
  • Come, let us worship and bow down.
Let us kneel before the Lord our maker.
  • Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see.
For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you.
  • So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world.
  • Heal the sick, and tell them, ‘The Kingdom of God is near you now.’
  • I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent.
  • “I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.”
  • So Jesus told them, “My message is not my own; it comes from God who sent me.”
  • A sign was fastened above Jesus’ head, announcing the charge against him. It read: “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”
  • From then on Jesus began to preach, “Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near.”
  • Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.”
  • Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.
  • Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin.”
  • Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.
  • “What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.”
  • Then, by the will of God, I will be able to come to you with a joyful heart, and we will be an encouragement to each other.
  • Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword.
  • I baptize with water those who repent of their sins and turn to God. But someone is coming soon who is greater than I am—so much greater that I’m not worthy even to be his slave and carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
  • For the Lord grants wisdom!
From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
  • Jesus told them, “This is the only work God wants from you: Believe in the one he has sent.”
  • Beware of false prophets who come disguised as harmless sheep but are really vicious wolves.
  • May the grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s holy people.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.
