- “All right then,” Joshua said, “destroy the idols among you, and turn your hearts to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

I will be honored throughout the world. - The teaching of your word gives light,
so even the simple can understand. - And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?
- The father of godly children has cause for joy.
What a pleasure to have children who are wise. - In my distress I prayed to the Lord,
and the Lord answered me and set me free. - The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right,
and his ears are open to their prayers.
But the Lord turns his face
against those who do evil. - Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
- Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
- You haven’t done this before. Ask, using my name, and you will receive, and you will have abundant joy.
- If the person still refuses to listen, take your case to the church. Then if he or she won’t accept the church’s decision, treat that person as a pagan or a corrupt tax collector.
- Bring your confessions, and return to the Lord.
Say to him,
“Forgive all our sins and graciously receive us,
so that we may offer you our praises.” - And Nehemiah continued, “Go and celebrate with a feast of rich foods and sweet drinks, and share gifts of food with people who have nothing prepared. This is a sacred day before our Lord. Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!”
- We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do.
- Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.
- And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
- All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.
- In this way, I will show my greatness and holiness, and I will make myself known to all the nations of the world. Then they will know that I am the Lord.
- Then, by the will of God, I will be able to come to you with a joyful heart, and we will be an encouragement to each other.
