- A wise son makes a father glad,
But a foolish son is a grief to his mother. - When my anxious thoughts multiply within me,
Your comfort delights my soul. - The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. - The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart triumphs,
And with my song I shall thank Him. - But I do not consider my life of any account as dear to myself, so that I may finish my course and the ministry which I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify solemnly of the gospel of God’s grace.
- Even if the fig tree does not blossom,
And there is no fruit on the vines,
If the yield of the olive fails,
And the fields produce no food,
Even if the flock disappears from the fold,
And there are no cattle in the stalls,
Yet I will triumph in the Lord,
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. - Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice!
- For I give plenty of water to the weary ones, and refresh everyone who languishes.
- How blessed is he whose wrongdoing is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered! - And behold, a voice from the heavens said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”
- I delight to do Your will, my God;
Your Law is within my heart. - I will rejoice and be jubilant in You;
I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High. - Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
The people He has chosen for His own inheritance. - Behold, happy is the person whom God disciplines,
So do not reject the discipline of the Almighty. - God makes a home for the lonely;
He leads out the prisoners into prosperity,
Only the rebellious live in parched lands. - As sorrowful yet always rejoicing, as poor yet making many rich, as having nothing and yet possessing all things.
- If, because of the Sabbath, you restrain your foot
From doing as you wish on My holy day,
And call the Sabbath a pleasure, and the holy day of the Lord honorable,
And honor it, desisting from your own ways,
From seeking your own pleasure
And speaking your own word,
Then you will take delight in the Lord,
And I will make you ride on the heights of the earth;
And I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father,
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken. - While he was still speaking, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice from the cloud said, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to Him!”
- Because Your favor is better than life,
My lips will praise You.
So I will bless You as long as I live;
I will lift up my hands in Your name. - But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings; and you will go forth and frolic like calves from the stall.
- But as for me, I will sing of Your strength;
Yes, I will joyfully sing of Your faithfulness in the morning,
For You have been my refuge
And a place of refuge on the day of my distress. - Rejoice greatly, daughter of Zion!
Shout in triumph, daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king is coming to you;
He is righteous and endowed with salvation,
Humble, and mounted on a donkey,
Even on a colt, the foal of a donkey. - I will rejoice greatly in the Lord,
My soul will be joyful in my God;
For He has clothed me with garments of salvation,
He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness,
As a groom puts on a turban,
And as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. - Now when all the people were baptized, Jesus also was baptized, and while He was praying, heaven was opened, and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came from heaven: “You are My beloved Son, in You I am well pleased.”
- Day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.
