- Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger.
- In you, O Lord, do I take refuge;
let me never be put to shame;
in your righteousness deliver me! - Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously;
let this be made known in all the earth. - Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil.
- Who is wise and understanding among you? By his good conduct let him show his works in the meekness of wisdom.
- And he said to all, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.”
- If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.
- And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
- Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in your sight,
O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. - But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
- On the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.”
- Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
- Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord!
O Lord, hear my voice!
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my pleas for mercy! - Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one.
- Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us,
and establish the work of our hands upon us;
yes, establish the work of our hands! - But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.
- Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
- Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.
- Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love,
for in you I trust.
Make me know the way I should go,
for to you I lift up my soul. - My son, be attentive to my words;
incline your ear to my sayings.
Let them not escape from your sight;
keep them within your heart. - Let the lowly brother boast in his exaltation, and the rich in his humiliation, because like a flower of the grass he will pass away.
- Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
- My son, do not forget my teaching,
but let your heart keep my commandments,
for length of days and years of life
and peace they will add to you. - “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.
- Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.
