- My child, listen to me and do as I say,
and you will have a long, good life. - Whoever pursues righteousness and unfailing love
will find life, righteousness, and honor. - So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
- The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
- Guard your heart above all else,
for it determines the course of your life. - Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.”

but those who ignore correction will go astray. - We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.

praying to God who gives me life. - The Lord is my light and my salvation—
so why should I be afraid?
The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger,
so why should I tremble? - God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.
- Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
- But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.
- The one thing I ask of the Lord—
the thing I seek most—
is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
delighting in the Lord’s perfections
and meditating in his Temple.
