A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.A person’s pride will bring him low, But a humble spirit will obtain honor.
For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, so also through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.
A man's heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps. The mind of a person plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.
As in water face answereth to face, so the heart of man to man.As in water a face reflects the face, So the heart of a person reflects the person.
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.The steps of a man are established by the Lord, And He delights in his way.

There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand. Many plans are in a person’s heart, But the advice of the Lord will stand.
The rich man's wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.A rich person’s wealth is his strong city, And like a high wall in his own imagination.
The words of a wise man's mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.Words from the mouth of a wise person are gracious, while the lips of a fool consume him.
Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.Blessed are you when the people hate you, and when they exclude you, and insult you, and scorn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man.
Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts.Every person’s way is right in his own eyes, But the Lord examines the hearts.
Heaviness in the heart of man maketh it stoop: but a good word maketh it glad.Anxiety in a person’s heart weighs it down, But a good word makes it glad.
The desire of a man is his kindness: and a poor man is better than a liar. What is desirable in a person is his kindness, And it is better to be a poor person than a liar.
Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.Behold, as for the impudent one, His soul is not right within him; But the righteous one will live by his faith.
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.The conclusion, when everything has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person.
Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This is also vanity and vexation of spirit.I have seen that every labor and every skill which is done is the result of rivalry between a person and his neighbor. This too is futility and striving after wind.
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion is vain.If anyone thinks himself to be religious, yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this person’s religion is worthless.
And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. But He said to them, “Beware, and be on your guard against every form of greed; for not even when one is affluent does his life consist of his possessions.”
But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. But the gracious gift is not like the offense. For if by the offense of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God and the gift by the grace of the one Man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many.
I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and to do good in one’s lifetime; moreover, that every person who eats and drinks sees good in all his labor—this is the gift of God.
