- All of these were constantly engaged in prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.
- The birth of Jesus Christ occurred in this way. When his mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they came to live together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.

The man said,
“This one is bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh.
She shall be called woman
because she was taken from man.”
This is why a man leaves his father and his mother and joins with a wife, and the two become one flesh. - Observe your father’s command, my son,
and do not reject your mother’s teaching. - He replied, “Have you not read that from the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female’ and said: ‘That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two become one flesh’? And so they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
- Joseph therefore went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to the city of David called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David. He went to be registered together with Mary, his betrothed, who was expecting a child.
- After he had decided to follow this course of action, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to receive Mary into your home as your wife. For this child has been conceived in her womb through the Holy Spirit.”
- Jesus answered, “Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the gospel who will not receive in this age a hundred times more houses, brothers and sisters, mothers and children, and lands—as well as persecutions—and in the age to come, eternal life.”
- Those who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God.
- Hence, be imitators of God, as beloved children.
- My soul thirsts for God, the living God.
When shall I come to behold the face of God? - God abides in anyone who acknowledges
that Jesus is the Son of God,
and that person abides in God. - Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God. - Beloved,
let us love one another,
because love is from God.
Everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. - Indeed, creation itself eagerly awaits the revelation of the children of God.
- Cure the sick who are there, and say, ‘The kingdom of God has come unto you.’
- Jesus replied, “Blessed, rather, are those who hear the word of God and obey it!”
- Jesus replied,
“This is the work of God:
to believe in the one whom he has sent.” - The Spirit himself bears witness with our Spirit that we are children of God.
