| But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it. | But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience. |
| But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. | I tell you, on the day of judgment you will have to give an account for every careless word you utter. |

| But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth: That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly. | But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your alms may be done in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you. |
| Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. | He said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ |
