- The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.
What can man do to me? - He only is my rock and my salvation,
my fortress; I shall not be shaken. - Or can one walk on hot coals
and his feet not be scorched? - Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? And not one of them is forgotten before God. Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows.
- Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.
- So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober.
- For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. - Incline my heart to your testimonies,
and not to selfish gain! - But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
- You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his male servant, or his female servant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.
- Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable. - If you will not listen, if you will not take it to heart to give honor to my name, says the Lord of hosts, then I will send the curse upon you and I will curse your blessings. Indeed, I have already cursed them, because you do not lay it to heart.
- Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.
- O Lord, all my longing is before you;
my sighing is not hidden from you. - The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
- Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
- Train up a child in the way he should go;
even when he is old he will not depart from it. - But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.
- Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them.
- Do not toil to acquire wealth;
be discerning enough to desist. - Of all that are in the waters you may eat these: whatever has fins and scales you may eat. And whatever does not have fins and scales you shall not eat; it is unclean for you.
- From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.
- Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.
- Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.
- I have set the Lord always before me;
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
