- In my distress I prayed to the Lord,
and the Lord answered me and set me free. - Riches won’t help on the day of judgment,
but right living can save you from death. - Mark out a straight path for your feet;
stay on the safe path. - Victory comes from you, O Lord.
May you bless your people. - The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and he sustains everything by the mighty power of his command. When he had cleansed us from our sins, he sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.
- Love prospers when a fault is forgiven,
but dwelling on it separates close friends. - For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him.
- And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
- Keep the Sabbath day holy.
Don’t pursue your own interests on that day,
but enjoy the Sabbath
and speak of it with delight as the Lord’s holy day.
Honor the Sabbath in everything you do on that day,
and don’t follow your own desires or talk idly.
Then the Lord will be your delight.
I will give you great honor
and satisfy you with the inheritance I promised to your ancestor Jacob.
I, the Lord, have spoken! - Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.
- But now Jesus, our High Priest, has been given a ministry that is far superior to the old priesthood, for he is the one who mediates for us a far better covenant with God, based on better promises.
- Those who feel free to eat anything must not look down on those who don’t. And those who don’t eat certain foods must not condemn those who do, for God has accepted them.
- Have mercy on me, O God,
because of your unfailing love.
Because of your great compassion,
blot out the stain of my sins.
Wash me clean from my guilt.
Purify me from my sin. - Let the wicked change their ways
and banish the very thought of doing wrong.
Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them.
Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously. - Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all to see.
For the glory of the Lord rises to shine on you. - My victory and honor come from God alone.
He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. - They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with everyone in your household.”
- Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor;
only fools insist on quarreling. - Give your burdens to the Lord,
and he will take care of you.
He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. - Now I say to you that you are Peter (which means ‘rock’), and upon this rock I will build my church, and all the powers of hell will not conquer it.
- Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.
- Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace, but a sword.
- But when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a ghost. They were all terrified when they saw him. But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage! I am here!”
- The eyes of the Lord watch over those who do right;
his ears are open to their cries for help. - I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take away your crown.
