- To acquire wisdom is to love yourself;
people who cherish understanding will prosper. - People with integrity walk safely,
but those who follow crooked paths will be exposed. - The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.
The world and all its people belong to him. - In the night I search for you;
in the morning I earnestly seek you.
For only when you come to judge the earth
will people learn what is right. - Such people will not be overcome by evil.
Those who are righteous will be long remembered. - You adulterers! Don’t you realize that friendship with the world makes you an enemy of God? I say it again: If you want to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.

Look, your king is coming to you.

riding on a donkey’s colt. - Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread and fish to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers!

according to what they have done. - But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

- One Sabbath day as Jesus was teaching in a synagogue, he saw a woman who had been crippled by an evil spirit. She had been bent double for eighteen years and was unable to stand up straight. When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, “Dear woman, you are healed of your sickness!” Then he touched her, and instantly she could stand straight. How she praised God! But the leader in charge of the synagogue was indignant that Jesus had healed her on the Sabbath day. “There are six days of the week for working,” he said to the crowd. “Come on those days to be healed, not on the Sabbath.” But the Lord replied, “You hypocrites! Each of you works on the Sabbath day! Don’t you untie your ox or your donkey from its stall on the Sabbath and lead it out for water? This dear woman, a daughter of Abraham, has been held in bondage by Satan for eighteen years. Isn’t it right that she be released, even on the Sabbath?” This shamed his enemies, but all the people rejoiced at the wonderful things he did.
- Look, I am coming soon, bringing my reward with me to repay all people according to their deeds.
- Think carefully about what is right, and stop sinning. For to your shame I say that some of you don’t know God at all.
- For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light!
- So let us do our best to enter that rest. But if we disobey God, as the people of Israel did, we will fall.
- So we can say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper,
so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?” - People who accept discipline are on the pathway to life,
but those who ignore correction will go astray. - See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people.
- O Israel, my faithless people,
come home to me again,
for I am merciful.
I will not be angry with you forever. - I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.
- People who conceal their sins will not prosper,
but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy. - In that wonderful day you will sing:
“Thank the Lord! Praise his name!
Tell the nations what he has done.
Let them know how mighty he is!”
