- I will make haste and not delay
to observe your precepts. - Never will I forget your commands,
for through them you have given me life. - Your word is a lamp for my feet
and a light to my path. - Your statutes are my everlasting heritage;
they are the very joy of my heart. - You are my refuge and my shield;
I put my hope in your word. - The explanation of your words gives light
and imparts understanding to the simple. - Guide my steps in accord with your word
and never let evil triumph over me. - Every word you utter is true,
and all your righteous judgments are everlasting. - Those who love your law have great peace;
they encounter no stumbling blocks. - Deliver me, O Lord, from lying lips
and from deceitful tongues. - I lift up my eyes to the mountains;
from where will I receive help?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. - He will not permit your foot to stumble;
he who guards you will not fall asleep. - The Lord will protect you against all evil;
he will watch over your life.
The Lord will watch over your coming and your going
both now and forevermore. - Our help is in the name of the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. - If the Lord does not build the house,
those who construct it labor in vain.
If the Lord does not guard the city,
those who keep watch over it do so in vain. - Blessed are all those who fear the Lord
and walk in his ways. - Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord;
O Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
to my cries of supplication. - I wait for the Lord in anxious expectation;
I place my hope in his word. - How wonderful and delightful it is
for brothers to live together in unity. - The Lord will fulfill his plan for me.
Your kindness, O Lord, endures forever;
do not forsake the work of your hands. - O Lord, you have examined me
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I stand;
you perceive my thoughts from a distance. - A word is not even on my tongue
and you, O Lord, are completely aware of it. - Where can I go to hide from your spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I ascend to the heavens, you are there;
if I take my rest in the netherworld, you are also there. - You created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am wonderfully made;
awesome are your works,
as I know very well. - Examine me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and understand my thoughts.
See if I follow an evil way,
and guide me on the way to eternity.
