The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. | The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. |
For the Lord loves justice, and he will never abandon the godly. He will keep them safe forever, but the children of the wicked will die. | For the Lord loves justice, And does not forsake His saints; They are preserved forever, But the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off. |
You know what I long for, Lord; you hear my every sigh. | Lord, all my desire is before You; And my sighing is not hidden from You. |
Hear my prayer, O Lord! Listen to my cries for help! Don’t ignore my tears. For I am your guest— a traveler passing through, as my ancestors were before me. | Hear my prayer, O Lord, And give ear to my cry; Do not be silent at my tears; For I am a stranger with You, A sojourner, as all my fathers were. |
I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart. | I delight to do Your will, O my God, And Your law is within my heart. |
Lord, don’t hold back your tender mercies from me. Let your unfailing love and faithfulness always protect me. | Do not withhold Your tender mercies from me, O Lord; Let Your lovingkindness and Your truth continually preserve me. |
As the deer longs for streams of water, so I long for you, O God. | As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. |
I thirst for God, the living God. When can I go and stand before him? | My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? |
I hear the tumult of the raging seas as your waves and surging tides sweep over me. | Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me. |
But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs, praying to God who gives me life. | The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, And in the night His song shall be with me— A prayer to the God of my life. |
Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God! | Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God; For I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God. |
They did not conquer the land with their swords; it was not their own strong arm that gave them victory. The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God. | The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart— These, O God, You will not despise. |
But God is my helper. The Lord keeps me alive! | Behold, God is my helper; The Lord is with those who uphold my life. |
Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall. | Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. |
But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in you. | Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You. |
I praise God for what he has promised. I trust in God, so why should I be afraid? What can mere mortals do to me? | In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me? |
Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens! May your glory shine over all the earth. | Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; Let Your glory be above all the earth. |
For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds. | For Your mercy reaches unto the heavens, And Your truth unto the clouds. |
