- Your word is a lamp to guide my feet
and a light for my path. - Joyful are people of integrity,
who follow the instructions of the Lord. - Joyful are those who obey his laws
and search for him with all their hearts. - As I learn your righteous regulations,
I will thank you by living as I should! - How can a young person stay pure?
By obeying your word. - I have tried hard to find you—
don’t let me wander from your commands. - I have hidden your word in my heart,
that I might not sin against you. - I have rejoiced in your laws
as much as in riches. - I have chosen to be faithful;
I have determined to live by your regulations. - Give me an eagerness for your laws
rather than a love for money! - I will walk in freedom,
for I have devoted myself to your commandments. - I will hurry, without delay,
to obey your commands. - I will never forget your commandments,
for by them you give me life. - Your laws are my treasure;
they are my heart’s delight. - You are my refuge and my shield;
your word is my source of hope. - The teaching of your word gives light,
so even the simple can understand. - Guide my steps by your word,
so I will not be overcome by evil. - The very essence of your words is truth;
all your just regulations will stand forever. - Those who love your instructions have great peace
and do not stumble. - Rescue me, O Lord, from liars
and from all deceitful people. - I look up to the mountains—
does my help come from there?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth! - He will not let you stumble;
the one who watches over you will not slumber. - The Lord keeps you from all harm
and watches over your life.
The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go,
both now and forever. - Our help is from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth. - Unless the Lord builds a house,
the work of the builders is wasted.
Unless the Lord protects a city,
guarding it with sentries will do no good. - How joyful are those who fear the Lord—
all who follow his ways! - From the depths of despair, O Lord,
I call for your help.
Hear my cry, O Lord.
Pay attention to my prayer. - I am counting on the Lord;
yes, I am counting on him.
I have put my hope in his word. - How wonderful and pleasant it is
when brothers live together in harmony! - The Lord will work out his plans for my life—
for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever.
Don’t abandon me, for you made me. - O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. - You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, Lord. - I can never escape from your Spirit!
I can never get away from your presence!
If I go up to heaven, you are there;
if I go down to the grave, you are there. - You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body
and knit me together in my mother’s womb.
Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!
Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. - Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life. - Hear my prayer, O Lord;
listen to my plea!
Answer me because you are faithful and righteous. - I lift my hands to you in prayer.
I thirst for you as parched land thirsts for rain. - Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning,
for I am trusting you.
Show me where to walk,
for I give myself to you. - Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God.
May your gracious Spirit lead me forward
on a firm footing. - I will exalt you, my God and King,
and praise your name forever and ever. - Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise!
No one can measure his greatness. - The Lord is righteous in everything he does;
he is filled with kindness. - The Lord is close to all who call on him,
yes, to all who call on him in truth. - The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down.
The Lord loves the godly. - The Lord protects the foreigners among us.
He cares for the orphans and widows,
but he frustrates the plans of the wicked. - He heals the brokenhearted
and bandages their wounds. - For the Lord delights in his people;
he crowns the humble with victory. - Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord!
Praise the Lord! - Oh, the joys of those who do not
follow the advice of the wicked,
or stand around with sinners,
or join in with mockers. - But you, O Lord, are a shield around me;
you are my glory, the one who holds my head high.
