Rather (2/3)

  • You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
  • Charge those who are rich in this present age that they not be arrogant, nor have their hope set on the uncertainty of riches, but on the living God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy.
  • Also, do not present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
  • For I say through the grace that was given me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think; but to think reasonably, as God has apportioned to each person a measure of faith.
  • And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.
  • Now I beg you, brothers, through the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfected together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
  • Who, existing in the form of God, didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, yes, the death of the cross.
  • One who is slow to anger is better than the mighty;
one who rules his spirit, than he who takes a city.
  • Therefore, brothers, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble. For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
  • He humbled you, allowed you to be hungry, and fed you with manna, which you didn’t know, neither did your fathers know, that he might teach you that man does not live by bread only, but man lives by every word that proceeds out of Yahweh’s mouth.
  • Jesus therefore answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me.”
  • But let justice roll on like rivers,
and righteousness like a mighty stream.
  • But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.
  • When Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do.”
  • And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.
  • Even as the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.
  • But you, man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, perseverance, and gentleness.
  • See that no one returns evil for evil to anyone, but always follow after that which is good for one another and for all.
  • But I beat my body and bring it into submission, lest by any means, after I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified.
  • For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke, being moved by the Holy Spirit.
  • No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a container or puts it under a bed; but puts it on a stand, that those who enter in may see the light.
  • Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”
  • Trust in Yahweh with all your heart,
and don’t lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge him,
and he will make your paths straight.
  • Isn’t this the fast that I have chosen:
to release the bonds of wickedness,
to undo the straps of the yoke,
to let the oppressed go free,
and that you break every yoke?
  • But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn’t even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’

You didn’t choose me, but I chose you and appointed you, that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you will ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
