Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. | Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. |
What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? | What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? |
|
This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. | But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. |
So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. | So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” |
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man. | Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God,” for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempts no one. |
He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. | He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” |
Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. | You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am. |
But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost. | And when they bring you to trial and deliver you over, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit. |
Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this. | Say not, “Why were the former days better than these?” For it is not from wisdom that you ask this. |
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth. | If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. |
And in that day shall ye say, Praise the Lord, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. | And you will say in that day: “Give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name, make known his deeds among the peoples, proclaim that his name is exalted.” |
And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you. | Heal the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’ |
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? | What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? |
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. | But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you. |
Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them. | Remember also your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil days come and the years draw near of which you will say, “I have no pleasure in them”. |
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame. | Wake up from your drunken stupor, as is right, and do not go on sinning. For some have no knowledge of God. I say this to your shame. |
O my soul, thou hast said unto the Lord, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee. | I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord; I have no good apart from you.” |
Take with you words, and turn to the Lord: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips. | Take with you words and return to the Lord; say to him, “Take away all iniquity; accept what is good, and we will pay with bulls the vows of our lips.” |
Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. | Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. |
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. | And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. |
He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. | He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” |
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. | He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.” |
Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. | And Jesus answered them, “Truly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ it will happen.” |
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. | Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. |
From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. | From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” |
