| Well then, since God’s grace has set us free from the law, does that mean we can go on sinning? Of course not! | What then? Should we sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! |
| Remember, you must not make any idols of silver or gold to rival me. | You shall not make gods of silver alongside me, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold. |
| As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” | For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. |

| If you follow my decrees and are careful to obey my commands, I will send you the seasonal rains. The land will then yield its crops, and the trees of the field will produce their fruit. | If you follow my statutes and keep my commandments and observe them faithfully, I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit. |
| The Lord your God will bless you as he has promised. You will lend money to many nations but will never need to borrow. You will rule many nations, but they will not rule over you. | When the Lord your God has blessed you, as he promised you, you will lend to many nations, but you will not borrow; you will rule over many nations, but they will not rule over you. |
| But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. | Then everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. |
| A newly married man must not be drafted into the army or be given any other official responsibilities. He must be free to spend one year at home, bringing happiness to the wife he has married. | When a man is newly married, he shall not go out with the army or be charged with any related duty. He shall be free at home one year, to be happy with the wife whom he has married. |
| For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” | For the whole law is summed up in a single commandment, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” |
| Yes, God will bless us, and people all over the world will fear him. | May God continue to bless us; let all the ends of the earth revere him. |
| You have heard the commandment that says, ‘You must not commit adultery.’ But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. | You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart. |
| All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’). | Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Look, the young woman is with child and shall bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel. |
| Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God’s grace. | For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace. |
| And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. | Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise. |
| You must serve only the Lord your God. If you do, I will bless you with food and water, and I will protect you from illness. | You shall worship the Lord your God, and I will bless your bread and your water; and I will take sickness away from among you. |
| The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ No other commandment is greater than these. | The second is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these. |
| For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. | For if while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more surely, having been reconciled, will we be saved by his life. |
| You must keep my Sabbath days of rest and show reverence for my sanctuary. I am the Lord. | You shall keep my sabbaths and reverence my sanctuary: I am the Lord. |
| The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; he leads me beside peaceful streams. | The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters. |
| Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. | Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long. |
| Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. | This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to act in accordance with all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall be successful. |
