What shall we say, then? Is the law sinful? Certainly not! Nevertheless, I would not have known what sin was had it not been for the law. For I would not have known what coveting really was if the law had not said, “You shall not covet.” | What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. |
She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. | And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. |
Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you. | Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the Lord thy God chasteneth thee. |
He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. | He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. |
