Sins (3/3)

  • Produce good fruit as proof of your repentance.
  • No, I tell you. But unless you repent, you will all perish as they did.
  • Wash yourselves and become clean;
    remove your evil deeds
    far from my sight.
    Cease to do evil.
  • From that day forward Jesus began to proclaim the message: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is close at hand.”
  • Indeed, fornication and impurity of any kind, as well as greed, should not even be mentioned among you. Such talk is not fitting for saints.
  • The time of fulfillment has arrived, and the kingdom of God is close at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.
  • But he was pierced for our offenses
    and crushed for our iniquity;
    the punishment that made us whole fell upon him,
    and by his bruises we have been healed.
  • God has overlooked the times of human ignorance, but now he commands people everywhere to repent.
  • Then he went on, “It is what comes out of a person that defiles. For from within, from the human heart, come evil thoughts, unchastity, theft, murder, adultery, avarice, malice, deceit, indecency, envy, slander, arrogance, and folly. All these evils come from within, and they defile a person.”
  • Although it was our afflictions that he bore,
    our sufferings that he endured,
    we thought of him as stricken,
    as struck down by God and afflicted.
  • Not because of any righteous deeds on our part
    but because of his mercy,
    he saved us through the bath of rebirth
    and renewal by the Holy Spirit.
  • Have mercy on me, O God,
    in accord with your kindness;
    in your abundant compassion
    wipe away my offenses.
    Wash me completely from my guilt,
    and cleanse me from my sin.
  • Then I acknowledged my sin to you,
    and I made no attempt to conceal my guilt.
    I said, “I will confess my offenses to the Lord,”
    and you removed the guilt of my sin. Selah
  • What god can compare with you,
    the God who takes away guilt
    and forgives the transgressions
    of the remnant of your people?
    You will not allow your anger to fester forever,
    for your delight is in bestowing mercy.
  • For all have sinned and thereby are deprived of the glory of God, and all are justified by the gift of his grace that is given freely through the redemption in Christ Jesus.
  • How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from acts that lead to death so that we may worship the living God.
  • I baptize you with water for repentance, but the one who is coming after me is more powerful than I am. I am not worthy to carry his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.
  • Now the works of the flesh are obvious: fornication, impurity, licentiousness, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, anger, quarrels, dissensions, factions, envy, drunkenness, carousing, and the like. I warn you, as I warned you previously, that no one who does such things will inherit the kingdom of God.

but whoever heeds admonition is prudent.
