- God abides in anyone who acknowledges
that Jesus is the Son of God,
and that person abides in God. - Repent, therefore, and be converted so that your sins may be wiped away.
- For I am longing to see you so that I may bestow on you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— or, rather, so that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine.
- The Spirit himself bears witness with our Spirit that we are children of God.
- I treasure your word in my heart
for fear that I may sin against you. - If you confess with your lips, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
- You did not choose me.
Rather, I chose you.
And I appointed you
to go out and bear fruit,
fruit that will remain,
so that the Father may give you
whatever you ask him in my name. - Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. - Teach us to comprehend how few our days are
so that our hearts may be filled with wisdom. - And you will say on that day:
Give thanks to the Lord,
invoke his name;
make known his deeds among the nations;
proclaim that his name is exalted. - This is how we can be certain
that we abide in him
and that he abides in us:
he has given us a share in his Spirit. - I ask that from the riches of his glory he may grant through his Spirit that you be strengthened with power in your inner being and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.
- As for you, my child, take strength from the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
- I am coming soon. Hold fast to what you already have so that no one may rob you of your crown.
- For I handed on to you as of primary importance what I received: that Christ died for our sins, in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried and that he was raised to life on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures.
- Whatever you ask in my name I will do,
so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. - Everything that you do should be done in love.
- This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God:
every spirit that acknowledges
that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh
is from God,
and every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus
is not from God.
This is the spirit of the Antichrist,
about whose coming you have been told,
and that it is already in the world. - Nevertheless, do not rejoice in the knowledge that the spirits are subject to you. Rejoice rather that your names are inscribed in heaven.
- This is how everyone will know
that you are my disciples:
if you love one another. - God chose those in the world who were lowly and despised, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who were regarded as worthy, so that no one could boast in the presence of God.
- Oh, that they would have fear of me in their hearts and they would observe all of my commandments always. Then things would go well with them and their children forever.
- God’s love was revealed to us in this way:
God sent his only-begotten Son into the world
so that we might have life through him. - Jesus replied, “Did I not tell you that if you have faith you will see the glory of God?”
- Honor your father and your mother so that your days may be lengthened in the land that the Lord your God, will give you.
