Chinese (traditional)- The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
- Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
- The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
- The lips of the righteous know what finds favor,
but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse. - Better the little that the righteous have
than the wealth of many wicked;
for the power of the wicked will be broken,
but the Lord upholds the righteous. - I came from the Father and entered the world; now I am leaving the world and going back to the Father.
- He builds his lofty palace in the heavens
and sets its foundation on the earth;
he calls for the waters of the sea
and pours them out over the face of the land—
the Lord is his name. - The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work.
- Unless the Lord builds the house,
the builders labor in vain.
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the guards stand watch in vain. - But the gift is not like the trespass. For if the many died by the trespass of the one man, how much more did God’s grace and the gift that came by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, overflow to the many!
- The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
the world, and all who live in it. - The way of the Lord is a refuge for the blameless,
but it is the ruin of those who do evil. - The grass withers and the flowers fall,
but the word of our God endures forever. - Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
- Blessed is the one
who does not walk in step with the wicked
or stand in the way that sinners take
or sit in the company of mockers. - Who has done this and carried it through,
calling forth the generations from the beginning?
I, the Lord—with the first of them
and with the last—I am he. - For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their prayer,
but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil. - Learn to do right; seek justice.
Defend the oppressed.
Take up the cause of the fatherless;
plead the case of the widow. - The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful.
- The Lord is slow to anger but great in power;
the Lord will not leave the guilty unpunished.
His way is in the whirlwind and the storm,
and clouds are the dust of his feet. - The angel answered, “The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.”
- Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
- The name of the Lord is a fortified tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe. - So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
- The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are attentive to their cry.
Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are attentive to their cry. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.Next verse!With image
