Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one. | Now in regard to the eating of meat sacrificed to idols, we know that idols are nothing in the world and that there is only one God. |

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. | God is Spirit, and those who worship him must worship in Spirit and truth. |
The Lord is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him. | The Lord is good, an unfailing refuge in a time of distress. He takes care of those who place their trust in him. |
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. | The tongue has the power over life and death; those who cherish it will enjoy its fruits. |
He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly. | He reserves his wisdom for the upright and is a shield to those who lead blameless lives. |
Like as a father pitieth his children, so the Lord pitieth them that fear him. | As a father has compassion for his children, so the Lord has compassion for those who fear him. |
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace. | And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who are peacemakers. |
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. | Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be accomplished for him. |
Withhold not good from them to whom it is due, when it is in the power of thine hand to do it. | Do not withhold kindness from anyone to whom it is due when it is in your power to grant it. |
And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same. | And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do as much. |
