Up (2/4)

  • He called the multitude to himself with his disciples and said to them, “Whoever wants to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.”
  • Train up a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not depart from it.
  • But you, Yahweh, are a shield around me,
my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.
  • But there is nothing covered up that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.
  • For you will light my lamp, Yahweh.
My God will light up my darkness.
  • Oh how great is your goodness,
which you have laid up for those who fear you,
which you have worked for those who take refuge in you,
    before the sons of men!
  • Because your loving kindness is better than life,
    my lips shall praise you.
So I will bless you while I live.
I will lift up my hands in your name.
  • You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
  • Walk in love, even as Christ also loved us and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.
  • Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning,
    for I trust in you.
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,
for I lift up my soul to you.
  • Yahweh, you have searched me,
    and you know me.
You know my sitting down and my rising up.
You perceive my thoughts from afar.

  • Yahweh said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain, and stay here, and I will give you the stone tablets with the law and the commands that I have written, that you may teach them.”
  • I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and they opened books. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works. The sea gave up the dead who were in it. Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them. They were judged, each one according to his works.
  • Behold, his soul is puffed up. It is not upright in him, but the righteous will live by his faith.

This Jesus, who was received up from you into the sky, will come back in the same way as you saw him going into the sky.”
  • But whoever drinks of the water that I will give him will never thirst again; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.
  • Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death, and will hand him over to the Gentiles to mock, to scourge, and to crucify; and the third day he will be raised up.
  • But you, beloved, keep building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in God’s love, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life.
  • Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.
  • A perverse man stirs up strife.
    A whisperer separates close friends.
  • Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word.
  • Yahweh bless you, and keep you.
Yahweh make his face to shine on you,
    and be gracious to you.
Yahweh lift up his face toward you,
    and give you peace.
  • But the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn’t even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’
  • But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength.
They will mount up with wings like eagles.
They will run, and not be weary.
They will walk, and not faint.

Without controversy, the mystery of godliness is great:
God was revealed in the flesh,
justified in the spirit,
seen by angels,
preached among the nations,
believed on in the world,
and received up in glory.
