Bible Verses about 'Up'
- Hatred stirs up quarrels,
but love makes up for all offenses. - Arise, O Lord!
Punish the wicked, O God!
Do not ignore the helpless! - The grapevines have dried up,
and the fig trees have withered.
The pomegranate trees, palm trees, and apple trees—
all the fruit trees—have dried up.
And the people’s joy has dried up with them. - Then Jesus led them to Bethany, and lifting his hands to heaven, he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up to heaven.
- Then he said to the crowd, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross daily, and follow me.”
- He heals the brokenhearted
and bandages their wounds. - After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him.
- When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.
- We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord.
- If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble.
- A gentle answer deflects anger,
but harsh words make tempers flare. - Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “If any of you wants to be my follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow me.”
- When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand.
- When God raised up his servant, Jesus, he sent him first to you people of Israel, to bless you by turning each of you back from your sinful ways.
- So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.
- Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.
- Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?
- I look up to the mountains—
does my help come from there?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth! - Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, looked up toward heaven, and blessed them. Then, breaking the loaves into pieces, he kept giving the bread and fish to the disciples so they could distribute it to the people. They all ate as much as they wanted, and afterward, the disciples picked up twelve baskets of leftovers!
- I cried out, “I am slipping!”
but your unfailing love, O Lord, supported me. - The Lord opens the eyes of the blind.
The Lord lifts up those who are weighed down.
The Lord loves the godly. - Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.
- The Lord makes some poor and others rich;
he brings some down and lifts others up. - Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.
- You light a lamp for me.
The Lord, my God, lights up my darkness. - So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.
- If you refuse to take up your cross and follow me, you are not worthy of being mine.
- Worry weighs a person down;
an encouraging word cheers a person up. - A cheerful heart is good medicine,
but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength. - Your unfailing love is better than life itself;
how I praise you!
I will praise you as long as I live,
lifting up my hands to you in prayer. - How great is the goodness
you have stored up for those who fear you.
You lavish it on those who come to you for protection,
blessing them before the watching world. - The time is coming when everything that is covered up will be revealed, and all that is secret will be made known to all.
- What are you waiting for? Get up and be baptized. Have your sins washed away by calling on the name of the Lord.
- He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest.
He is a shield to those who walk with integrity. - I saw the dead, both great and small, standing before God’s throne. And the books were opened, including the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to what they had done, as recorded in the books. The sea gave up its dead, and death and the grave gave up their dead. And all were judged according to their deeds.
- O Lord, you have examined my heart
and know everything about me.
You know when I sit down or stand up.
You know my thoughts even when I’m far away. - Then the Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain. Stay there, and I will give you the tablets of stone on which I have inscribed the instructions and commands so you can teach the people.”
- Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.
- Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless,
and see that they get justice. - But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.
- For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.
- For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
- Direct your children onto the right path,
and when they are older, they will not leave it. - As they strained to see him rising into heaven, two white-robed men suddenly stood among them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!”
- We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.
- Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning,
for I am trusting you.
Show me where to walk,
for I give myself to you. - “Listen,” he said, “we’re going up to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man will be betrayed to the leading priests and the teachers of religious law. They will sentence him to die. Then they will hand him over to the Romans to be mocked, flogged with a whip, and crucified. But on the third day he will be raised from the dead.”
- For the commandments say, “You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.” These—and other such commandments—are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
- But you, O Lord, are a shield around me;
you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. - Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.
