- Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.

- Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.
- As they strained to see him rising into heaven, two white-robed men suddenly stood among them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!”
- For husbands, this means love your wives, just as Christ loved the church. He gave up his life for her to make her holy and clean, washed by the cleansing of God’s word.
- But you, O Lord, are a shield around me;
you are my glory, the one who holds my head high. - Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves;
ensure justice for those being crushed. - For the commandments say, “You must not commit adultery. You must not murder. You must not steal. You must not covet.” These—and other such commandments—are summed up in this one commandment: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
- Direct your children onto the right path,
and when they are older, they will not leave it. - Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning,
for I am trusting you.
Show me where to walk,
for I give myself to you. - So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.
