| Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. | Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. |
| For the Lord is our judge, our lawgiver, and our king. He will care for us and save us. | For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save us. |
| And may the Lord our God show us his approval and make our efforts successful. Yes, make our efforts successful! | And let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it. |
| Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom. | So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. |

| By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. | According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue. |
| No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us. | Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. |
| See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. | Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. |
| And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. | And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. |
| He has removed our sins as far from us as the east is from the west. | As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. |
| For we will be counted as righteous when we obey all the commands the Lord our God has given us. | And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as he hath commanded us. |
| And since we know he hears us when we make our requests, we also know that he will give us what we ask for. | And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. |
| And the Lord our God commanded us to obey all these decrees and to fear him so he can continue to bless us and preserve our lives, as he has done to this day. | And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. |
| But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. | But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. |
| For a child is born to us, a son is given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders. And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. | For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. |
| And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. | And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. |
| But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) | But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved). |
| “As I began to speak,” Peter continued, “the Holy Spirit fell on them, just as he fell on us at the beginning.” | And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning. |
| He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession. | Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. |
| And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words. | Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. |
| But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. | But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. |
| And we are confident that he hears us whenever we ask for anything that pleases him. | And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us. |
| Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. | For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. |
| We should help others do what is right and build them up in the Lord. | Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification. |
