Why do bad things happen (2/4)

He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus.He who testifies these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen! Yes, come, Lord Jesus!
The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray.But the end of all things is near. Therefore be of sound mind, self-controlled, and sober in prayer.
You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.Therefore you are without excuse, O man, whoever you are who judge. For in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself. For you who judge practice the same things.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.While we don’t look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.He reveals the deep and secret things. He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with him.
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”Looking at them, Jesus said, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.
This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing.For this reason you also pay taxes, for they are servants of God’s service, continually doing this very thing.
But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.Only fear Yahweh, and serve him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things he has done for you.
Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God.”Jesus, looking at them, said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God, for all things are possible with God.”
Then Peter said, “Ananias, how is it that Satan has so filled your heart that you have lied to the Holy Spirit and have kept for yourself some of the money you received for the land? Didn’t it belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, wasn’t the money at your disposal? What made you think of doing such a thing? You have not lied just to human beings but to God.”But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the price of the land? While you kept it, didn’t it remain your own? After it was sold, wasn’t it in your power? How is it that you have conceived this thing in your heart? You haven’t lied to men, but to God.”
But God has helped me to this very day; so I stand here and testify to small and great alike. I am saying nothing beyond what the prophets and Moses said would happen— that the Messiah would suffer and, as the first to rise from the dead, would bring the message of light to his own people and to the Gentiles.Having therefore obtained the help that is from God, I stand to this day testifying both to small and great, saying nothing but what the prophets and Moses said would happen, how the Christ must suffer, and how, by the resurrection of the dead, he would be first to proclaim light both to these people and to the Gentiles.
His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a few things, I will set you over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honorable, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report: if there is any virtue and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
You may say to yourselves, “How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?” If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. That prophet has spoken presumptuously, so do not be alarmed.You may say in your heart, “How shall we know the word which Yahweh has not spoken?” When a prophet speaks in Yahweh’s name, if the thing doesn’t follow, nor happen, that is the thing which Yahweh has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You shall not be afraid of him.
Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world.Sing to Yahweh, for he has done excellent things! Let this be known in all the earth!
The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.He who calls you is faithful, who will also do it.
Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done.”Jesus answered them, “Most certainly I tell you, if you have faith and don’t doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you told this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it would be done.”
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose.
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God.
Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.Most certainly I tell you, he who believes in me, the works that I do, he will do also; and he will do greater works than these, because I am going to my Father.
I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full.
“‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.”Jesus said to him, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”
As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.As you don’t know what is the way of the wind, nor how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child; even so you don’t know the work of God who does all.
