But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant. | But among you it will be different. Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. | Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. |

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. | Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world. |
Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven. | Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven. |
Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance. | Such people will not be overcome by evil. Those who are righteous will be long remembered. |
But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first. | But many who are the greatest now will be least important then, and those who seem least important now will be the greatest then. |
Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens; let thy glory be above all the earth. | Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens! May your glory shine over all the earth. |
Judge not, that ye be not judged. | Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. |
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. | Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned. |
Heal me, O Lord, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise. | O Lord, if you heal me, I will be truly healed; if you save me, I will be truly saved. My praises are for you alone! |
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. | This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. |
And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one. | And the Lord will be king over all the earth. On that day there will be one Lord—his name alone will be worshiped. |
For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. | The time is coming when everything that is covered up will be revealed, and all that is secret will be made known to all. |
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. | Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. |
The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. | The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. |
Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you. | Dear brothers and sisters, I close my letter with these last words: Be joyful. Grow to maturity. Encourage each other. Live in harmony and peace. Then the God of love and peace will be with you. |
Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. | You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate. |
And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the Lord am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine. | You must be holy because I, the Lord, am holy. I have set you apart from all other people to be my very own. |
Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous. | Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted, and keep a humble attitude. |
But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you. | This is what I told them: ‘Obey me, and I will be your God, and you will be my people. Do everything as I say, and all will be well!’ |
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. | Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. |
