- My son, do not forget my teaching,

and peace they will add to you. - And if you say in your heart, ‘How may we know the word that the Lord has not spoken?’— when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word that the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously. You need not be afraid of him.
- Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.
- Be strong, and let your heart take courage,
all you who wait for the Lord! - And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
- Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious.
- For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.
- Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
- Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
- We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners; yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
- And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.
- And rend your hearts and not your garments.
Return to the Lord your God,
for he is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love;
and he relents over disaster. - Do not toil to acquire wealth;
be discerning enough to desist. - Keep steady my steps according to your promise,
and let no iniquity get dominion over me. - Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
