- As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today.
- I will strengthen the house of Judah,
and I will save the house of Joseph.
I will bring them back because I have compassion on them,
and they shall be as though I had not rejected them,
for I am the Lord their God and I will answer them. - God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God.
- He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.
- And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes, and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
- But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.
- Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—” therefore the Lord God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken.
- And he said to them, “Then are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him, since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?” (Thus he declared all foods clean.)
- Learn to do good;
seek justice,
correct oppression;
bring justice to the fatherless,
plead the widow's cause. - And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.”
- Though the fig tree should not blossom,
nor fruit be on the vines,
the produce of the olive fail
and the fields yield no food,
the flock be cut off from the fold
and there be no herd in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will take joy in the God of my salvation. - The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels;
they go down into the inner parts of the body. - Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ.
- And when they bring you to trial and deliver you over, do not be anxious beforehand what you are to say, but say whatever is given you in that hour, for it is not you who speak, but the Holy Spirit.
- The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to bring good news to the poor;
he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to those who are bound. - The name of the Lord is a strong tower;
the righteous man runs into it and is safe. - When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it.
- If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into hell.
- For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
- God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
- So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God.
- A man without self-control
is like a city broken into and left without walls. - Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
- May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.
- In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him.
