  • I cried to him with my mouth,
    and high praise was on my tongue.
  • For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.
  • You shall not mistreat any widow or fatherless child. If you do mistreat them, and they cry out to me, I will surely hear their cry, and my wrath will burn, and I will kill you with the sword, and your wives shall become widows and your children fatherless.

    from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
  • Open your mouth, judge righteously,
    defend the rights of the poor and needy.
  • The Lord is near to all who call on him,
    to all who call on him in truth.
  • Then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment.
  • Open your mouth for the mute,
    for the rights of all who are destitute.
  • Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean;
    remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes;
    cease to do evil.
  • Until the Spirit is poured upon us from on high,
    and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field,
    and the fruitful field is deemed a forest.
  • And in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’
  • You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
  • Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven for you and pour down for you a blessing until there is no more need.
  • If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.
  • Watch yourselves, so that you may not lose what we have worked for, but may win a full reward.
  • Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.
  • No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
  • All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
