- Pride leads to conflict;
those who take advice are wise. - The Lord is good,
a strong refuge when trouble comes.
He is close to those who trust in him. - Haughtiness goes before destruction;
humility precedes honor. - I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.
- Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God.

All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you.”
- For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.
- Let all that I am wait quietly before God,
for my hope is in him. - Yes, he humbled you by letting you go hungry and then feeding you with manna, a food previously unknown to you and your ancestors. He did it to teach you that people do not live by bread alone; rather, we live by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
- But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.
- For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen.
- So you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming.
- But blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
They are like trees planted along a riverbank,
with roots that reach deep into the water.
Such trees are not bothered by the heat
or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green,
and they never stop producing fruit. - For the Lord grants wisdom!
From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. - Fear of the Lord teaches wisdom;
humility precedes honor. - Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God.
- May the Lord lead your hearts into a full understanding and expression of the love of God and the patient endurance that comes from Christ.
- And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
- Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life. - Everyone enjoys a fitting reply;
it is wonderful to say the right thing at the right time! - Rejoice, O people of Zion!
Shout in triumph, O people of Jerusalem!
Look, your king is coming to you.
He is righteous and victorious,
yet he is humble, riding on a donkey—
riding on a donkey’s colt. - For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.
- Deceit fills hearts that are plotting evil;
joy fills hearts that are planning peace! - Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord.
