- Guarding the paths of justice
and watching over the way of his saints. - And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
- If you obey the commandments of the Lord your God that I command you today, by loving the Lord your God, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his rules, then you shall live and multiply, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land that you are entering to take possession of it.
- But he knows the way that I take;
when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.
My foot has held fast to his steps;
I have kept his way and have not turned aside. - The good person out of the good treasure of his heart produces good, and the evil person out of his evil treasure produces evil, for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.
- And calling the crowd to him with his disciples, he said to them, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”
- If anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless.
- By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.
- Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,
on those who hope in his steadfast love. - He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
- Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people whom he has chosen as his heritage! - As a father shows compassion to his children,
so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. - For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?
- You shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and his testimonies and his statutes, which he has commanded you.
- Do not envy a man of violence
and do not choose any of his ways,
for the devious person is an abomination to the Lord,
but the upright are in his confidence. - And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them.
- Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who greatly delights in his commandments! - And in Hades, being in torment, he lifted up his eyes and saw Abraham far off and Lazarus at his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the end of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in anguish in this flame.’
- He will render to each one according to his works.
- And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
- Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are right and his ways are just; and those who walk in pride he is able to humble.
- A fool gives full vent to his spirit,
but a wise man quietly holds it back. - And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
- Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
- And over his head they put the charge against him, which read, “This is Jesus, the King of the Jews.”
