- I lift up my eyes to the mountains;
from where will I receive help?
My help comes from the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth. - This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God:
every spirit that acknowledges
that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh
is from God,
and every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus
is not from God.
This is the spirit of the Antichrist,
about whose coming you have been told,
and that it is already in the world. - He continued, “Then put away the foreign gods from among you. Bend your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.”
- For so has the Lord commanded us to do, saying,
‘I have made you a light for the Gentiles
so that you may bring salvation
to the farthest corners of the earth.’ - Then Nehemiah added: “You now may go. Eat rich food and drink what is sweet. Moreover, send some of these to those for whom nothing has been prepared, for this day is holy to our Lord. Furthermore, do not be grieved, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
- About midnight, Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them.
- Then, after he had spoken to them, the Lord Jesus was taken up into heaven, and there he took his place at the right hand of God.
- His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. Since you have been faithful in small matters, I will give you much greater responsibilities. Come and share your master’s joy.’
- But as for me, I will look to the Lord.
I place my hope in God my savior;
my God will hear me. - If he refuses to listen to them, report it to the Church. And if he refuses to listen to the Church, treat him as you would a Gentile or a tax collector.
- May God continue to bless us
and be revered to the ends of the earth. - For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous
and his ears are attentive to their prayer.
However, the face of the Lord
is set against those who do evil. - Jesus replied, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
- Although we are human beings, we do not engage in battle according to human standards.
- Then he sat down, summoned the Twelve, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he must become the last of all and the servant of all.”
- Until now, in my name,
you have not asked for anything.
Ask and you will receive,
so that your joy may be complete. - May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may grow rich in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
- They devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles and to the communal fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayers.
- He is himself the sacrifice for our sins—
and not only for our sins
but also for the sins of the whole world. - Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace but a sword.
- For I will provide the weary with all they need, and I will restore the strength of all those who have grown faint with hunger.
- “But you,” he said to them, “who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
- And we are witnesses to these things, as is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.
- The wealthy man lords it over the poor,
and the borrower becomes the slave of the lender. - I have made your name known to them,
and I will make it known,
so that the love with which you loved me
may be in them, and I in them.
