- For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.
- For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.
- Let thine eyes look right on,
and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. - For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth.
- Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens:
and thy glory above all the earth. - No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.
- For they got not the land in possession by their own sword,
neither did their own arm save them:
but thy right hand, and thine arm,
and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them. - Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
- But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.
- Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the word of life.
- O come, let us worship and bow down:
let us kneel before the Lord our maker. - Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
- Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
- Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
- Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil.
- But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.
- Therefore whatsoever ye have spoken in darkness shall be heard in the light; and that which ye have spoken in the ear in closets shall be proclaimed upon the housetops.
- Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
- Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us,
according as we hope in thee. - And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
- With my whole heart have I sought thee:
O let me not wander from thy commandments. - But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant.
- Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
- Let us search and try our ways,
and turn again to the Lord. - Order my steps in thy word:
and let not any iniquity have dominion over me.
