- He reveals deep and hidden things;
he knows what is in the darkness,
and light dwells with him. - Let your word be ‘Yes, Yes’ or ‘No, No’; anything more than this comes from the evil one.
- Do not, O Lord, withhold
your mercy from me;
let your steadfast love and your faithfulness
keep me safe forever. - For the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true.
- For not by their own sword did they win the land,
nor did their own arm give them victory;
but your right hand, and your arm,
and the light of your countenance,
for you delighted in them. - Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
- But those who do what is true come to the light, so that it may be clearly seen that their deeds have been done in God.
- Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid.
- This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light and in him there is no darkness at all.
- Do all things without murmuring and arguing, so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world. It is by your holding fast to the word of life.

Let your ears be attentive

‘I have set you to be a light for the Gentiles,
so that you may bring salvation to the ends of the earth.’ - No one after lighting a lamp hides it under a jar, or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand, so that those who enter may see the light.
- When your eyes light upon it, it is gone;
for suddenly it takes wings to itself,
flying like an eagle toward heaven. - With my whole heart I seek you;
do not let me stray from your commandments. - Do not be mismatched with unbelievers. For what partnership is there between righteousness and lawlessness? Or what fellowship is there between light and darkness?
- Above all, my beloved, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or by any other oath, but let your “Yes” be yes and your “No” be no, so that you may not fall under condemnation.
- O come, let us worship and bow down,
let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker! - My child, do not forget my teaching,
but let your heart keep my commandments;
for length of days and years of life
and abundant welfare they will give you. - Keep my steps steady according to your promise,
and never let iniquity have dominion over me. - Conduct yourselves wisely toward outsiders, making the most of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer everyone.
- In you, O Lord, I seek refuge;
do not let me ever be put to shame;
in your righteousness deliver me. - For this slight momentary affliction is preparing us for an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure.
