Let your light shine (2/4)

  • Don’t withhold your tender mercies from me, Yahweh.
Let your loving kindness and your truth continually preserve me.
  • For they didn’t get the land in possession by their own sword,
    neither did their own arm save them;
but your right hand, your arm, and the light of your face,
because you were favorable to them.
  • Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
  • Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, I give to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.
  • But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be revealed, that they have been done in God.
  • Pray like this:
‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
    Let your Kingdom come.
Let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’
  • Yahweh is my light and my salvation.
    Whom shall I fear?
Yahweh is the strength of my life.
Of whom shall I be afraid?
  • This is the message which we have heard from him and announce to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
  • Out of the depths I have cried to you, Yahweh.
    Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my petitions.
  • But when you do merciful deeds, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand does, so that your merciful deeds may be in secret, then your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
  • For so has the Lord commanded us, saying,
‘I have set you as a light for the Gentiles,
that you should bring salvation to the uttermost parts of the earth.’
  • For our light affliction, which is for the moment, works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory.
  • No one, when he has lit a lamp, covers it with a container or puts it under a bed; but puts it on a stand, that those who enter in may see the light.
  • For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth.
  • Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship do righteousness and iniquity have? Or what fellowship does light have with darkness?
  • With my whole heart I have sought you.
Don’t let me wander from your commandments.
  • My son, don’t forget my teaching,
but let your heart keep my commandments,
for they will add to you length of days,
    years of life, and peace.
  • But above all things, my brothers, don’t swear— not by heaven, or by the earth, or by any other oath; but let your “yes” be “yes”, and your “no”, “no”, so that you don’t fall into hypocrisy.
  • Make the path of your feet level.
Let all of your ways be established.
  • Establish my footsteps in your word.
Don’t let any iniquity have dominion over me.
  • Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.
  • In you, Yahweh, I take refuge.
    Let me never be disappointed.
    Deliver me in your righteousness.
  • But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.
  • Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light. What you have spoken in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops.
  • My son, attend to my words.
Turn your ear to my sayings.
Let them not depart from your eyes.
Keep them in the center of your heart.

In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.
