- “Ananias,” Peter asked, “why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, were not the proceeds at your disposal? How is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You did not lie to us but to God!”
- Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. Over these the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and they will reign with him a thousand years.
- For whoever finds me finds life
and obtains favor from the Lord. - And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Also another book was opened, the book of life. And the dead were judged according to their works, as recorded in the books. And the sea gave up the dead that were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and all were judged according to what they had done.
- Do not worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing.
- I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
- The reward for humility and fear of the Lord
is riches and honor and life. - No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends.
- Hear, my child, and accept my words,
that the years of your life may be many. - A gentle tongue is a tree of life,
but perverseness in it breaks the spirit. - Wealth is a ransom for a person's life,
but the poor get no threats. - Hope deferred makes the heart sick,
but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life. - For, while physical training is of some value, godliness is valuable in every way, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
- For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his. We know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be destroyed, and we might no longer be enslaved to sin.
- Keep your heart with all vigilance,
for from it flow the springs of life. - They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, and after twisting some thorns into a crown, they put it on his head. They put a reed in his right hand and knelt before him and mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
- He called the crowd with his disciples, and said to them, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.”
- Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
my whole life long. - Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?
- Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I fear no evil;
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff—
they comfort me. - See, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death; then they will hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified; and on the third day he will be raised.
- Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life,
but one who rejects a rebuke goes astray. - For this reason he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, because a death has occurred that redeems them from the transgressions under the first covenant.
- Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
- For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.
