- But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,
on those who trust in his kindness. - My son, concentrate attentively on my words;
pay heed to the instructions I pass on to you.
Do not let them slip from your mind;
keep them forever in your heart. - They will never again experience hunger or thirst,
nor will the sun or any scorching heat cause them discomfort.
For the Lamb who is at the center of the throne
will be their shepherd.
He will guide them to springs of living water,
and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes. - I will, thereby, display my greatness and my holiness and make myself known to many nations. Then they will know that I am the Lord.
- And I heard a loud voice proclaim from the throne:
“Behold, God’s dwelling is with mankind;
he will dwell with them.
They will be his people,
and he will be their God,
God-with-them.
He will wipe every tear from their eyes,
and there will no longer be death.
Neither will there be any mourning or crying or pain,
for the old order has passed away.” - I will instruct you
and guide you in the way you should go;
I will counsel you
and keep my eyes upon you. - Can a woman forget the infant at her breast;
or feel no compassion for the child of her womb?
Even should she forget,
I will never forget you.
Behold, I have inscribed your name
on the palms of my hands;
your walls are continually before my eyes. - For our eyes are fixed not on what is seen but rather on that which cannot be seen. What is visible is transitory; what is invisible is eternal.
- In the netherworld, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham, far off, and Lazarus by his side. And he called out, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me. Send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am in agony in these flames.’
- I intend to prove the holiness of my great name which has been profaned among the nations, and which you have profaned among them. Thus, the nations will know that I am the Lord, says the Lord God, when through you I will display my holiness in their sight.
- With our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. For the sake of the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, ignoring its shame, and is now seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
- After he said this, he was lifted up as they looked on, and a cloud took him from their sight.
- When I realized that my foot was slipping,
your kindness, O Lord, raised me up. - Hatred stirs up strife,
but love overlooks all offenses. - Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that at the proper time he may exalt you.
- However, you, dear friends, must build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God as you await our Lord Jesus Christ in his mercy, who will grant you eternal life.
- Sing to God, sing praise to his name;
exalt him who rides upon the clouds.
Rejoice in the presence of this God
whose name is the Lord.
The Father of orphans and the defender of widows:
such is God in his holy dwelling place. - Then he said to all who were with him, “Anyone who wishes to follow me must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me.”
- And anyone who does not take up his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
- Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
- When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you, to bless you by turning each one of you from your wicked ways.
- And now, what are you waiting for? Get up, be baptized, and have your sins washed away, calling on his name.
- I treasure your word in my heart
for fear that I may sin against you. - Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. While he was blessing them, he departed from them and was taken up to heaven.
- He then called the people and his disciples to him and said to them, “Anyone who wishes to follow me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.”
As servants of God, behave as free people, but do not use your freedom as a means to cover up wrongdoing.Many are the plans in a human mind,
but it is the purpose of the Lord that will prevail. The Lord, your God, is in your midst,
a warrior and a savior.
He will rejoice over you with gladness
and renew you through his love.
He will exult over you with shouts of joy.Next verse!With image
