- He answered, “Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.”
- So we can confidently say,
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear;
what can man do to me?” - Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
- Or can one walk on hot coals
and his feet not be scorched? - Praise the Lord! Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,
who greatly delights in his commandments! - The heart of man plans his way,
but the Lord establishes his steps. - Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.
- See, we are going up to Jerusalem. And the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and scribes, and they will condemn him to death and deliver him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified, and he will be raised on the third day.
- One Sabbath he was going through the grainfields, and as they made their way, his disciples began to pluck heads of grain. And the Pharisees were saying to him, “Look, why are they doing what is not lawful on the Sabbath?” And he said to them, “Have you never read what David did, when he was in need and was hungry, he and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God, in the time of Abiathar the high priest, and ate the bread of the Presence, which it is not lawful for any but the priests to eat, and also gave it to those who were with him?” And he said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”
- Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you;
bind them around your neck;
write them on the tablet of your heart.
So you will find favor and good success
in the sight of God and man. - So God created man in his own image,
in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them. - Every way of a man is right in his own eyes,
but the Lord weighs the heart. - Blessed is the one who finds wisdom,
and the one who gets understanding. - But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.”
- Surely there is not a righteous man on earth who does good and never sins.
- But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
- It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife,
but every fool will be quarreling. - The words of a wise man's mouth win him favor,
but the lips of a fool consume him. - A man without self-control
is like a city broken into and left without walls. - A rich man's wealth is his strong city,
and like a high wall in his imagination. - It is well with the man who deals generously and lends;
who conducts his affairs with justice. - Let no one deceive you in any way. For that day will not come, unless the rebellion comes first, and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.
- Let it be known to you therefore, brothers, that through this man forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, and by him everyone who believes is freed from everything from which you could not be freed by the law of Moses.
- Jesus looked at them and said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.”
- Anxiety in a man's heart weighs him down,
but a good word makes him glad.
