- The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord:
and he delighteth in his way. - It is better to trust in the Lord
than to put confidence in man. - And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
- A man hath joy by the answer of his mouth:
and a word spoken in due season, how good is it! - Can one go upon hot coals,
and his feet not be burned? - A man's heart deviseth his way:
but the Lord directeth his steps. - So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
- Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord,
that delighteth greatly in his commandments. - A fool's wrath is presently known:
but a prudent man covereth shame. - Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again.
- And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn. And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful? And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him? How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him? And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath: Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
- For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.
- How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.
- Let not mercy and truth forsake thee:
bind them about thy neck;
write them upon the table of thine heart:
So shalt thou find favour and good understanding
in the sight of God and man. - Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
- So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
- For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
- Every way of a man is right in his own eyes:
but the Lord pondereth the hearts. - But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.
- Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
- For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
- Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth:
therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty. - And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
- A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself;
but the simple pass on, and are punished. - It is an honour for a man to cease from strife:
but every fool will be meddling.
