- And the world with all its enticements
is passing away,
but whoever does the will of God
abides forever. - Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her in order to sanctify her by cleansing her with water and the word.
- He is himself the sacrifice for our sins—
and not only for our sins
but also for the sins of the whole world. - Let no one delude himself. If anyone among you considers himself to be wise by worldly standards, he must become a fool in order to be truly wise.
- He gives strength to the weary
and new vigor to those who are powerless. - He gave himself for us in order to deliver us from all iniquity and to purify for himself a people as his own who are eager to do good.
- God’s love was revealed to us in this way:
God sent his only-begotten Son into the world
so that we might have life through him. - Dear children,
you are from God
and you have conquered them,
for the one who is in you is greater
than the one who is in the world. - You intended to do evil to me, but God decided to make it serve a good, to fulfill that which today has come true: to keep alive a numerous people.
- Before the mountains were brought forth
or the earth and the world came into existence,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God. - For God so loved the world
that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him
may not perish
but may attain eternal life. - What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his very life? Or what can he give in exchange for his life?
- For we brought nothing into this world, and we can take nothing out. If we have food and clothing, let us be content with these.
- And the good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the entire world as a testimony offered to all the nations. And then the end will come.
- Peace I leave with you,
my peace I give to you.
Not as the world gives
do I give it to you.
Do not let your hearts be troubled;
be not afraid. - Beloved,
do not trust every spirit,
but test the spirits
to see whether they are from God.
For many false prophets
have gone out into the world. - Do not be conformed to the world, but be transformed by the renewal of your minds, so that you will be able to discern the will of God and to know what is good and acceptable and perfect.
- Jesus addressed them once again, saying,
“I am the light of the world.
The one who follows me
will never walk in darkness.
Rather, he will have the light of life.” - Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In his great mercy he has given us a new birth to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.
- Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and undefiled is this: to come to the aid of orphans and widows in their hardships and to keep oneself untarnished by the world.
- But he answered me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” Hence, I will boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell within me.
- I am the living bread that came down from heaven.
Whoever eats this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give
is my flesh, for the life of the world. - In other words, God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, and not holding people’s transgressions against them, and he committed to us the message of reconciliation.
- See what love
the Father has bestowed on us,
enabling us to be called the children of God,
and that is what we are.
If the world does not recognize us,
that is because it did not know him. - Father, allow those you have given me
to be with me where I am,
so that they may behold my glory,
which you have bestowed on me
because you loved me
before the foundation of the world.
God chose those in the world who were lowly and despised, those who count for nothing, to reduce to nothing those who were regarded as worthy, so that no one could boast in the presence of God.If you abide in me
and my words abide in you,
you may ask for whatever you wish,
and it will be done for you.
