- Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on a rock.
- For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up.
- No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
- Behold, his soul is puffed up. It is not upright in him, but the righteous will live by his faith.
- Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, to repay to each man according to his work.
- For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?
- Or can one walk on hot coals,
and his feet not be scorched? - The heart is deceitful above all things
and it is exceedingly corrupt.
Who can know it?
“I, Yahweh, search the mind.
I try the heart,
even to give every man according to his ways,
according to the fruit of his doings.” - A fool vents all of his anger,
but a wise man brings himself under control. - A man’s heart plans his course,
but Yahweh directs his steps. - It is an honor for a man to keep aloof from strife,
but every fool will be quarreling. - If a man says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who doesn’t love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?
- For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?
- If a man prevails against one who is alone, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken.
- For you will bless the righteous.
Yahweh, you will surround him with favor as with a shield. - But let him ask in faith, without any doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.
- Before destruction the heart of man is proud,
but before honor is humility. - Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
- For in it is revealed God’s righteousness from faith to faith. As it is written, “But the righteous shall live by faith.”
- It is well with the man who deals graciously and lends.
He will maintain his cause in judgment. - He who overcomes will be arrayed in white garments, and I will in no way blot his name out of the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
- It is a snare to a man to make a rash dedication,
then later to consider his vows. - Behold, happy is the man whom God corrects.
Therefore do not despise the chastening of the Almighty. - The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious; but a fool is swallowed by his own lips.
- Praise Yah!
Blessed is the man who fears Yahweh,
who delights greatly in his commandments.
